Celebrating You

With only three weeks to go until graduation, it’s time to think about doing something really special for yourself, a priority a lot of people don’t make time for.

Why? Because we think we’re too busy or we shouldn’t spend the money or we don’t want to be selfish, but celebrating an achievement is important. It builds self-confidence, releases happy hormones and reinforces commitment to further achievement. Literally, you are teaching yourself to attract more success. Convinced now? Awesome, let’s get you nice and spoilt. 😊

Because it doesn’t have to be time-consuming, expensive or selfish… but it can and should be indulgent. Here’s a list of our top ten suggestions to ‘celebrate you’ at graduation.

  1. Do something a little outrageous to your appearance. For some people that may be a new hair-cut, colour or style, for other dare-devils that could mean something really cheeky like a piercing or a tattoo. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s something you’ve wanted, but lacked the confidence to do, because now you do have more confidence. Now you’re never going back. (You can’t really go back on that tattoo idea either. Maybe just a little one on your hot, new bootie.)
  2. Throw out your fat clothes and rearrange that wardrobe to make way for smaller, sexier fashion. Can’t really afford much? Go to op shops or buy inexpensive but nice new t-shirts, shorts, skirts and accessories. Having a trimmer figure means everything looks better and you deserve that little boutique in your home. You really do. Tell hubby to call us if he doesn’t agree.
  3. Book a holiday to show off that bod. Once again, this doesn’t have to be an expensive thing. You can go visit a friend or relative who lives by the sea or out in the country. Wherever you go really enjoy dressing for the environment and wearing things you couldn’t wear in the past, e.g. tucking your shirt into your skirt or letting the world see your knees again in shorts. Take that hot bod on the road baby!
  4. Do something big… for you. For some that may mean giving a speech at work, for other that could mean bungee-jumping. One of our fasters decided to go on a game show! Pick something that you know you could never have contemplated doing when you carried those extra kilos but now… the sky’s the limit! Hmmm. sky-diving anyone?
  5. Choose a new goal. What else do you want to achieve now that you know how amazing you are? A promotion? Enrolling in a course? Writing a book? You’ve just proven to yourself that you have drive and determination in spades. Go ahead and slay another dragon Master Faster!
  6. Make another life change. If you could change something in your life, what would it be? It doesn’t have to be selling the house and moving to Ireland, it could be something as simple as spending ten minutes a day in the garden to get more nature into your life. Those little changes can feel like big rewards over time and hey, it’s your existence… design it how you want it, baby.
  7. Give yourself a present for graduation. A bottle of decent bubbly? A new pair of jeans? Maybe put the jeans on and take the bubbly over to a girlfriend’s because this is a big deal. You have just given yourself a longer, happier, healthier life. Big. Deal. Seriously!
  8. Share your story. You may be brave enough to do this on Facebook, you may just want to tell one friend or perhaps a few over dinner, but this isn’t something to brush under the carpet. Stories are powerful. Stories inspire others. Tell it and tell it proud – you are amazing.
  9. Put your achievement somewhere you can see it regularly to remind yourself of what you have actually done. Before and after photos work well. You may like to put other achievements there too – like a bit of a brag book but not to brag of course, just for you. Success breeds success breeds success. #successisarabbit
  10. Take the time to enjoy this. Just for a few minutes, each day, let it soak in. Maybe tell yourself that you’re proud of you in the mirror. No-one has to know. We won’t tell and the dog can’t speak English. Sometimes the hardest person to impress is ourselves but that person in that reflection needs you to care about her more than anyone. She needs you to be proud of her. She carries you every day. And she carried that weight too. Go on and give her a little kiss and leave the lippy on the glass. #lethubbywonder
