Most likely, you’ve mastered the big picture stuff by now, but sometimes little changes, even deceptively simple ones, can really make a big difference to your bottom, um, line. Here’s some juicy ideas to get you planning:

  • We’re all perpetual students so continue to look for food swaps when you can. Raspberries instead of dried fruit, pumpkin instead of potato, side salad instead of fries, spritzers instead of cocktails. You’ll form more good habits and find maintaining, or losing a little more, just a matter of course.
  • What’s the first thing you consume in a day? Make it water, and plenty of it, and don’t be afraid to jazz it up with a little lemon juice and ice, or, on cold days, fruit teas.
  • Form a good incidental exercise habit like walking an extra bus stop or strolling around the park at lunch. Even walking to the mall to get soup or coffee instead of standing around and making it in the staff room can get the blood pumping and add a little endorphin bonus to your day.
  • Get in tune with produce, i.e. be season savvy with fruit and veg! You can hero ingredients when they’re ripe for the picking, like mangoes in summer salads or sticky pineapple and chicken skewers on the BBQ. Fresh is yummy! Check online guides and watch out for our seasonal superfood hero ingredient posts on Facebook.
  • Step it up via a step-counting step app and aim to do 10,000 a day. It’s actually really amazing how much more active you become… and a little addictive #justsaying.
  • Make extra veggies for dinner – they make the perfect snack next day.
  • Ask the clothes-shop-assistant for dressing advice. After she faints from disbelief that she didn’t even have to say ‘can I help you or are you just looking today?’ you may be surprised what she recommends. Ask at a few different shops and see if there is a theme, e.g. yes, you can get away with white jeans now!
  • Dress for you and ignore all those so-called age restrictive rules, especially ‘mutton dressed up as lamb’ – be a hot sheep!
  • If you’ve achieved those skinny jeans maybe it’s time to focus on healthy genes and give yourself some age-defying advantages, be it ten minutes a day strengthening your core or incorporating a new vitamin-rich food into your diet. Think, what will boost your super powers most? More naps? More friend-fuelled fun? Give yourself whatever is lacking and enjoy some well-earned balance!

Finally, take another life step by setting goals aside from the scales then get in the habit of visualising what you want every day for ten minutes. Especially, imagine how you’ll feel when you achieve it, be it a financial goal, a promotion, a creative project completed, a trip, a sporting victory or a new car. There is a lot of joy in just imagining good news and the brain loves the chemicals. That’s one little change that could lead to a very big diff!
