Putting in the Hard Yards
You’ve been meal planning and prepping, guzzling litres of water, healthily snacking and fasting as well as doing everything else that life throws at you. What a rock star!
But, under the glitz and glam, you’ve also been working really hard, multitasking, feeling tired and honestly, a little hungry. That’s okay!
Success can feel like a struggle, that’s why your goal is something that you’ll earn not something that will just fall in your lap! You’ll remember that when you made the decision to embark on this journey, it was a big step – probably the most confronting one you’d made in a long time.
But now that you’re on the Fast Track, it’s so important to keep your motivation high; sometimes encouraging yourself to keep going can feel like as much of a challenge as that initial commitment.
But think of how incredible it will feel to look back at the view when you make it to the top!
Celebrate the Wins!
There’s no better way to honour how far you’ve come and re-establish your commitment to where you’re going than with a good old celebration! While it might feel frivolous, making a big deal over re-committing to your new lifestyle will encourage you to stick with it and appreciate the sacrifices you’ve already made. Find a time when you don’t have any distractions and dedicate it as me time. Create a sense of ceremony to make it a bit spesh; select an empowering playlist and put on that outfit that always makes you feel bangin’! This is an interpretive process, so do whatever feels special to you; meditate, pray, repeat a mantra or have a solo dance party to I’m Every Woman!
Write down all of the wins – however small – that you’ve had since you started SFD and read them aloud. Pause at each one and allow yourself to feel the pride that you deserve and reflect on the challenges you overcame in order to achieve each little win. Remind yourself of where you started and think about how far away that feels now, 8 weeks later! Pretty impressive, huh?
Revisit the Why
Back in Week 4, you identified why you found it essential to alter your lifestyle. You established your goals and concentrated on the power of positive thinking. Now that you’re in the SFD swing of things, it’s important to revisit the Big Why – what you ultimately want to achieve. Avoid getting bogged down and distracted by the daily grind by cementing your goals at the forefront of your mind.
You didn’t come this far to only come this far!
SFD 2.0
Use this milestone as an opportunity to update the tools that you’ve been relying on so far. Your perspective has probably evolved over the weeks; upgrade your strategies to keep up with you!
- Give your vision board a makeover to keep it relevant, fresh and inspiring.
- Adopt some new mantras that will motivate you to continue with your success.
- Brainstorm some positive affirmations you can depend on during trying times (Pinterest is great for this!).
- Establish even more mental habits, such as focusing on what you can control rather than what you can’t and celebrating small wins instead of waiting for the end goal.
- Think of meaningful non-food-related rewards you can spoil yourself with when you achieve your future mini-wins.
When you feel like quitting, think about why you started!
