Feed your motivation this week, as Dr. Happy talks reviewing your ‘why’ and maybe even revising what’s driving you.

In the hustle and bustle of the everyday, it’s very easy to get distracted from our goals or caught up in simply living life, and to forget why we started doing things in the first place. So, it’s important to take a moment every now and then to re-focus on our driving purpose.

Way back in Lesson 2, you were invited to reflect not just on what you wanted to achieve or how you were going to achieve it but importantly, why you wanted to work towards a SuperLife, and towards your weight loss goals. Your answers to the questions that we posed back then have hopefully provided the motivation and drive you needed to work hard to succeed and to persevere through those inevitable, hard times.

As we’ve just reached the half-way point of this SuperLife program, you’re invited to reflect upon your ‘Big Why’, remind yourself of what’s driving you to make difficult but important life changes and if necessary, revise your thoughts and thereby, boost your inspiration and energy levels.

Accordingly, your task for this week is to set aside 10-20 minutes or so, or as much time as you think you need, and reflect upon why you really want to work towards your best life, a SuperLife and a SuperFastDiet life.

Just to remind you: the why should be more powerful than losing weight or dropping a dress size. If these are motivators for you then that’s totally fine, but, in addition, ask yourself…

  • Why do I want to lose weight?
  • How would my life be different or better if I weighed less?
  • What is it about losing weight that I find attractive?

Do you, for example, think it will make you happier or more attractive? Do you believe people will like you more?

Whatever your answer, make this your direct why! That is, rather than working towards weight loss aim directly instead, for happiness, likeability or some other form of success. Whatever your deeper reasons are: if you aim for and achieve these (and if you find you like yourself better and that you’re happier) I can guarantee you’ll adopt a healthier lifestyle and enjoy more self-compassion, as a result of which, any weight you need to lose will be lost of its own accord.

We’ve made this activity super-easy by creating a printable activity sheet for you to work through, so make sure to download it. And have a super week!
