Hunger isn’t painful, it doesn’t get worse and worse, it’s just a short-term sensation and it is a physical indication that your body is switched on and working to rid you of your extra weight. While it may be frustrating and put you in a flim-flammery old mood, we have some tips and tricks for dealing with your hunger and flying through your Fast Day.

Help With Hunger
If you need a helping hand to get through your fast day, mull over the following fast facts and tips:
- The sensation of being hungry is your body’s way of telling you that what you’re doing to lose weight is working! Feeling hungry is actually good sign. It means that your digestive system is engaged and that you’re burning fat.
- Drink plenty of fluids (carbonated ones fill you up more, but skip the sugar).
- Keep yourself distracted with activities that occupy your mind
- Try not to give in to your hunger pangs; eating a small amount can actually increase the sensation. If you ignore your pangs, they will subside.
- If you do need to eat something, choose a low-calorie snack to tide you over.
- Learn your ‘hungry times’ and prepare for them with easy snacks under 100 calories.
Low-Calorie Hunger Busters
All of these snacks are under 100 calories and will fill you up! Just mind your portion size so you don’t accidentally have too generous of a serving.
- Non-dairy banana smoothie
- Fat free Greek yogurt
- Frozen banana slices dipped in dark chocolate
- Nuts; pistachios, almonds or cashews
- Carrots and celery dipped in salsa, hummus or peanut butter
- Air-popped popcorn (seasoned with dehydrated yeast)
- Steamed edamame beans
- A hard-boiled egg with salt, pepper and paprika
- Prawns with lime juice and chilli
- Chinese cucumber salad
- Curried tuna with celery sticks
