Now that you’re a Master Faster, it’s time to reset that internal fasting clock. Tick tock!

When you started on this SFD journey, 500 calories may have seemed like a scary number but now that you’re a Master Faster, and you fly through such days with ease, you’re probably starting to realise that you’re capable of far more than you realised. You super-courageous faster you! Perhaps it’s even time to stretch those wings a little further and turbo charge your results. It’s still only going to be part-time fasting, just a little bit longer.

Okay scary new thought (if you’re brave enough to consider it): Longer. Fasting. Window.

Evidence supports the fact that just by extending that fast a little longer each fasting day, you are actually ramping up your results and it doesn’t have to be a big stretch. Even just another hour in a part-day fast, for example, say seventeen hours of fasting, seven hours of feasting, could make a big difference. There are some amazing health benefits to be had too, as the fat-burning period increases. And the longer you fast, the more likely you are to enter the cellular cleansing process of autophagy. Disease prevention and longer lifespans are attributed to this, with less stress on the digestive system and real, honest-to-goodness cell renewal. So yeah, it’s good for you! And you lose more weight too. Alright, that’s enough about the science. Here’s what SFD co-founder Gen has to say about re-setting that internal fasting clock:

“I really thought there was no way I could go longer than sixteen hours of fasting. It seemed too hard to not hit midday and say: ‘hooray lunch!’ then wolf it down. Surely, I’d be too hungry! But I tried it, nevertheless, and a few things helped: having meetings at that time, drinking broth and daring myself to go another half hour. I soon made a new habit of it and now, quite honestly, I can easily go eighteen hours on a part-day fast without blinking. I’ve even done twenty-four hours (from dinner one day until dinner the next) which people call a ‘water fast’ and yes, it’s not easy, but I did get through it. And the weight falls off even faster! I usually save that last one for a post-holiday cleanse.”

Mary-Anne, Super Staffer (and sister to Gen), has started trying the longer window fast too.

“Once again, my sister Gen did something that sounded crazy hard and once again I took some convincing to believe that I could do it too. But I’m a busy person and that was the key: have a beverage and keep working, moving, doing. Another hour or two, or even three, just doesn’t feel hard anymore. It’s almost like a game and it sure keeps my weight down after living it up on the weekends.”

So, have a go, if you’re game. You’ll find it’s a surprisingly easy addition to your fasting routine and a lot of people report better sleep and feeling more focused and energised to boot. It’s one of those little changes that really can make a pretty big diff.

Just reset that internal fasting clock. Tick. Tock.
