Now that you’ve begun to clarify WHAT you want to achieve and HOW you want to live your (best) life, the next, important question is WHY? Many experts in this area argue that the ‘why’ is even more important that the ‘what’ because this is where our motivation comes from; this gets to the heart of our real purpose; and accordingly, it’s what will help us persevere during difficult times and persist over the longer term to achieve our goals.
He who has a why can endure any how. Nietzsche
Now, some of you might already know your “why” and if you do, that’s great. But even if you think you know, I’d encourage you to give some consideration to the following thought-provoking questions:
- What makes you come alive?
- What energises you?
- When do you feel most you (e.g. authentic and genuine)?
- At the end of your life, how would you like your contribution to be assessed?
