Ask most modern adult humans what challenges they face in life and you’ll hear a common theme: I’m. Too. Busy. And the first thing that seems to go out in the time window? ‘Me-time’.
Sound familiar? But what if we gave you a tool so valuable, so simple yet so SUPER it gave you a far more balanced awesome life? Read on, Super Squad. Read on.
Life is busy!
By the time you’ve found something presentable to wear, tamed your hair, made it to work alive, met that deadline, survived peak hour, walked the desperately bored dog, shopped for healthy(!) groceries, visited your elderly relative, cooked a gourmet SFD dinner, organised every other needy person in the household all whilst solving your BFF’s love-life dramas on speaker-phone, it’s all you can do to make it to the couch and down a glass of wine before falling asleep in the middle of Friends re-runs…right?
Hmmm, right. We understand. We SuperStaffers are you too. Or at least we were until the brains trust at SFD formulated a time management plan so doable we simply had to give it a go and re-invent our own ‘wheels’.
The Super Wheel
By now you’re probably pretty familiar with our SuperLife – the benchmark for super-life-time-management. Everything you do can fall under these headings – we’ve even thrown in some examples to illustrate the point:
SUPERMOVE
- Walking the dog
- Dancing with your BFF
- Taking the stairs instead
- Netball/Pilates/Zumba/moonwalking lessons etc.
- Yoga videos in your video Library
- Introduction to SuperMove (see weekly program dashboard)
SUPERHAPPY
- Watching the sunset
- Eating delicious BBQ with your family on the verandah
- Giggling at those Friends re-runs
- Crying laughing on the phone with BFF about hideous embarrassing moments
SUPERREST
- Snoozing in the car at the kids cricket
- Lazing about with a good book and a blanket
- Lying on the beach and listening to the waves
- Having Nanna naps in clean, lovely sheets
SUPERMIND
- Achieving goals at work
- Conquering negative inner-chat and having a great day instead
- Studying for a course subject and passing with flying colours!
- Doing the accounts and ignoring the money you spend on socializing. That literally doesn’t count.
SUPERHEART
- Surprising your partner with an el fresco lunch at work
- Playing Monopoly with your kids and adoring their enthusiasm (may require wine)
- Giving a stranger a token for the trolley at the supermarket
- Cooking dinner for a friend who’s doing it tough
- Picking up the kids from school so they don’t have to walk in the rain and shouting them a treat on the way home. (Hot tip: don’t buy them hot chips if it’s a fast day. You may end up with your tongue lolling out the window like the dog.)
- Taking your mum to the movies… just because <3
SUPERSTYLE
- Chucking out your fat clothes! (Of course that’s our first suggestion!)
- Giving yourself a pedicure. (May require more wine and possibly a blow-torch)
- Window shopping with BFFs for goal clothes
- Purchasing accessories because they are usually cheaper and make you feel all girly
- Spending extra time on your look in the morning and feeling good about yourself all day, (especially when running into your ex in the shops. So glad you washed hair and wore lippy today. So, so glad.)
So many things!
A time managed, balanced life should ideally allow you the room to do what needs doing most without sacrificing your favourite bits, but of course the first thing you need to know is just how you’re currently spending all your time.
So, let’s do just that and find out just how balanced your life really is, little bee, by getting you to fill in the Super Wheel template – download it here!
Simply write in what you spend your time on in an average week, then colour code to match. Sample A was filled in by one of our test studies to give you an idea. Off you go and we’ll see you afterwards below.
