Master Faster Master List!

If you’re a Master Faster, you know a thing or two about what it takes to succeed. We’ve asked the best and brightest fasters for their SFD top tips. This is how they make it look so easy and make themselves look so fab. The secrets are out. Here is the Master Faster Master List of tips! (say that five times fast!)

Fasting

  • Plan your Fast Day to coincide with days you know will be busy. You’ll be too busy to feel hungry!
  • Don’t stress over a Fast Fail. Use positive thinking to turn your frown upside down and make up for your fail another day.
  • Drink lots and lots of water! Jazz it up however you like, but keep those fluids flowing!
  • Allow yourself to have cheeky cheats. And they’re not even that naughty – you’re encouraged to indulge your sweet tooth, just make smart decisions regarding sugar levels and portion size.
  • Embrace hunger as a good sign. Practice satiety and use those hunger pangs as evidence that your fasting is working!
  • Stretch out a fast day to as long as you can, especially when you’re feeling strong enough to do it.
  • Brush your teeth when you’re feeling hungry; it will negate hunger, especially a sweet tooth!
  • Stash some snacks in your handbag or desk for when you’re feeling hangry!

Food

  • Only grocery shop strategically; arm yourself with a list and a route to avoid spontaneous purchases.
  • If you have to buy your kids or partner junk food, choose stuff you don’t like yourself.
  • Keep the kitchen and pantry stocked with hero ingredients and healthy snacks. If they’re there, you’ll eat them!
  • Make your meals work double duty. Avoid cooking multiple meals for you and the rest of the family by smartly substituting ingredients like low-calorie konjac noodles, zucchini, cauliflower, fish and chicken, and pumping up the veggies.
  • Snack smart. Become accustomed to nibbling on healthy snacks and have some easy defaults at the back of your mind for when you’re in a rush or can’t be bothered.
  • Pick your poison. Before you go out with the girls, put some thought into how you can feast in a healthy way. Choosing Brut Nature Champagne or a vodka soda over a big bold shiraz or sugary Mai Tai.
  • Familiarise yourself with healthy finger food to snack on while out for drinks.
  • When eating out, order smaller portions, share a dish with a friend, fill up on protein and veggies first or pop half of your meal in a take away container before you dig in. Better for the waistline and the wallet!
  • Have some go-to takeaway orders. If you know it’s going to be an order-in type of night, have some easy menu options up your sleeve and make smart decisions regarding dressings and sides.

Life

  • Get some shut eye; as well as giving your body a much needed reboot, sleeping in and going to bed early is another way to make a Fast Day fly by.
  • Appreciate the power of positivity and the impact that your mental and emotional state can have on your physical body. You’ve gotta think fab before you can look fab!
  • Use the fine China. Make a normal meal or snack feel special by creating a sense of ceremony.
  • Dream it: be it. The power of visualisation is legit!
  • Dress for your (new) body. Try on a smaller size or an unfamiliar style, you might surprise yourself!
  • Reward yourself for the little wins. A self-congratulatory pat on the back will motivate you to keep it up!
  • Create a mantra to keep you motivated. Update it when you outgrow it.
  • Practice gratitude and generosity. A little love goes a long way.
